The Joker's Song

Sometimes, it almost seems to make sense....

Above: The Joker and Harley Quinn -- Art by
Alex Ross.
Below: Lyrics by Alan Moore (taken from "the Killing Joke").

When the world is full of care
And every headline screams despair,
All is rape, starvation, war and life is vile

Then there's a certain thing I do
Which I shall pass along to you,
That's always guaranteed to make me smile:

I go loo-oo-oony as a light-bulb battered bug!
Simply loo-oo-oony, sometimes foam and chew the rug!

Mister, life is swell
In a padded cell,
It'll chase those blues away:
You can trade your gloom
For a rubber room
And injections twice a day!

Just go loo-oo-oony like an acid casualty,
Or a moo-oo-oonie, or a preacher on T.V.

When the human race
Wears an anxious face,
When the bomb hangs overhead,
When your kid turns blue,
It won't worry you,
You can smile and nod instead.

When you're loo-oo-oony, then you just don't give a fig,
Man's so pu-uu-uny, and the universe so big!

If you hurt inside,
Get certified,
And if life should treat you bad,

Don't get ee-ee-eeven, get mad!!

Excellent find!

Well, jokers are a real serious lot if you ask me.

sketchy, do you remember the 'clown' you once sketched on a scrap paper? you can guess who in the world saved it.

The villains of Batman are the
best ones ever conceived. IMHO, they seem to be magnified super-images of the collective being spread over the entire society-- insulted, discarded, and left to rot-- into monsters.

Every aspect of the Batman series is captivating. Unfortunately, the best batman movie according to me-- 'Batman and Robin', was supposed to be the worst of all. The dark gothic feel that I adore, wasnt supposed to be the 'batmanly'. But then, I grew up watching the batman animation that features a dark gothic 'gotham'.

@gandar
i agree that batman's villians are conceptually the most 3D. most of them have liberal gray zones (like batman himself), but even the really evil ones are scary because of the rationale they give to their evil.

i guess we can go into everlasting discussions about this, but i think the very gothic feel you're talking about was least in evidence in 'batman and robin'. val kilmer's 'forever' was way better. and tim burton's movies too.

the first movie of the series that one watches always has an effect- For me Golden Eye is still the best bond movie ever (well, if you think abt it, it is Brosnan's best)

I fell in love with that song when I read The Killing Joke. I was wondering if any one knew if some artist actually made it. I'm dieing to find an MP3 of it, or something.
If someone dose have it, and sees tis post [and yes, I realize how unlikely it is] then please E-mail me with at least the conformation that it exists.
