Oh well, might as well...

The writing bird has clearly flown the coop (for now, at least), so I think I'll just rest on my laurels for a while and post some of my drawings, a lot of which have been scanned thanks to the diligence of Yadbhavishya and Pradeep. Today's definition for happiness - having friends who can say,
"And since you know you cannot see yourself
So well as by reflection, I, your glass,
Will modestly discover to yourself
That of yourself which you yet know not of."
(from Julius Caesar by Shakespeare)

Here's how it works. Take these posts as the pictorial version of Pingi's Joie de Vivre. Take a look, and leave a comment on whatever the drawing reminds you of/makes you feel. Once I run out of my drawings, I'll just post other interesting pictures I come across.

Todays sketch:

The picture seems to be a hurt heart with the eye reflecting the emotion that the heart (not visible to others, hence underground!) feels.

This sketch has a story behind it if I remember right (the ear-ring piece). You already know what I thought (think) about it.

If words speak millions ,then pictures speak more than that...

thanks dudes (and dudette) :D!
As RW said, there is a story behind this sketch. But your analyses are making me second guess myself!
Anon -
"Cancer" is pretty intense, could you elaborate what made you think that?
Kamal -
That the eye is the best reflection of the (unseen) emotions of the heart is one of my favorite themes. Also, the thing underground does look like a knife is buried in it.
Aakarsh -
Characteristically imaginative! You've seen things there which i never dreamed of portraying, giving it much greater depth than intended.
Vaidehi -
Eligibility is not an issue. If you weren't, you wouldn't be here. Glad you can see hope blossoming there...it is closest to what i intended.
Kedar -
super critique (of others' comments)! is there something this reminds you of ?
Story coming soon...

is that a sword i can see that has stabbed an otherwise well rooted "hope"...
a flamboyant peacock feather branching out of a modest quill...
"hope" again??
a tearful eye at the heart of the withering nemaleeka suggesting tarnished hope...are those the sheddings of the feather or the eye...the eye is,however, has an intense determination,of not givng up hope...
couldnt have a better title for a sketch so intense...seriously...i too bow!

hmm... knowing the story almost always kills the fun and creativity... scorn me

a seemingly insignificant find, possibly a great story behind...

one thing that is inescapable here is 'truth'... whatever one maybe or masquerades as, truth is one such thing that has to find its path out... clarity in conscience and courage needed!

thanx divya, another flamboyant (leonine) interpretation...
yadbhavishya, "a seemingly insignificant find, possibly a great story behind.." that's indeed the theme behind this drawing...

The story goes that yours truly was walking home when he found an ornament (an ear-drop) on the road. He picked it up and was about to throw it away when he thought about the person who'd worn it, whoever it was, he'd never know. Perhaps, if he planted it in the ground, whatever grew out of it would reflect her...but then he realized that the only thing that could grow out of it was his own short-lived hope. Hence the dandelion depicting the ephemerality; the little feathers flying off doubling as tears for its own dissolution; and the rough shape of a heart where this hope had taken root.

But thanks so much for looking and commenting. Let's see what I can come up with next.

No wonder, I feel proud for I had this sketch of yours as a desktop wall paper long back (thanks to vidya).

I try not to think of what a picture can mean...

anyways,
what abt the knife?

Exactly kedar...that is the question...the "knife" and the sphere it is "buried in" together make the ear-ring, which my drawing fell short of translating :( Also, the "quill" is merely the grassy leaf of my made-up flowering plant. :D But this is a good example of how an artist's happy accident can lead to increased depth in the drawing!

when everything in art (even "moern art") can mean something, this is more than an accident.

I believe the subsoncious manifests in us through whateer way it sees fit... music, sketching, writing, etc...

Those who choose to see the fine-print are the real gainers!
