So said Dustin Hoffman on receiving his Oscar for Kramer vs Kramer. Another bunch of those statuettes were given away last night and I sat up diddling on the computer (which belongs to my girlfriend) to see who got what, though most of the featured movies I hadn't even seen.
Peer pressure? The need to know first? The deep vicarious desire for the limelight?
Maybe all, maybe none. Maybe it's one of the opportunities we have to sit back and reflect on the fact that good performances are in fact rewarded.......or are they?
I just think it's the "Ulloo-ka-Pattha syndrome" that made KBC (India's version of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?") so popular.
